Lapeer State Game Area / Lapeer MI / Deer hunting is good

A little gold nugget. At the west end of Sawdust Corners Rd. Where the pavement turns to the south, take the dirt road (marked road closed) to the public parking are. There is a walking trail that leads to a food plot field which is presently grown up with weeds. When you walk into the field you can hunt to your right side in about 50 yards then to your left about 100 yards.

The really good area is hunting up in the hills to the West, approximately .75 mile from the car. This area is loaded with oak trees and has numerous small swampy area.

All it really needs is more hunters to keep the deer moving.

I shot a great 6 point on opening day 2010 and my partner seen 3 bucks with one of them a wide 10 point.

This should be a good late season spot when the bucks are more interested in feeding than chasing does.
